Konnie talks about breaking stereotypes, adding humour and illustrating her own work

About The Author:

As the longest serving female Blue Peter presenter, from 1997 to 2008, Konnie Huq is no stranger to children's entertainment. She is an ambassador for the Prince's Trust and the British Asian Trust. This is her first foray into children's books and 'Cookie' is inspired by Konnie's own London Bangladeshi background, her love of science and her unashamed nerdiness! Konnie would love to see any stories, illustrations or projects inspired by 'Cookie' so feel free to share your work with her at @Konnie_Huq (Twitter), @cookiebykonnie (Instagram) or via her website - konnie-huq.com. About The Book:

'Cookie and the Most Annoying Boy in the World' marks the start of a brand-new hilarious series for young readers and introduces the world to Cookie  – nine years old, obsessed with science and ready to take on the world. Or at least she thinks she is... Cookie has never quite felt as if she fits in – a quirky girl with a touch of the geek, from a Bangladeshi family – and with an uncanny ability to get herself into almost constant scrapes. Populated by a hilarious cast of characters, from annoying classmates to tedious teachers and of course her amazing friends, ‘, the Cookie books will strike a chord for anyone who’s ever been to school. With a joyful combination of anarchic humour and the thoughts we all have (but most of us remember not to actually say!), with STEM learning sneaked in, the Cookie books are essential reading for the young and the young at heart.
